Remote Work

How a globally distributed, asynchronous team collaborates across borders, time zones, and academic schedules — without burning out.

YSP operates as a fully remote, globally distributed organization. This policy outlines how we collaborate effectively across borders, time zones, and personal commitments while maintaining a supportive and productive working environment.
01

Scope

This policy applies to all YSP team members, including volunteers, interns, and leadership. We recognize that members balance academic responsibilities, family obligations, and other commitments.

02

Remote‑first structure

All operations, meetings, and communications are conducted through digital platforms unless otherwise specified for special events or local initiatives. Remote collaboration enables broader participation, reduces barriers to entry, and ensures diverse global representation in our work.

03

Flexibility & personal commitments

Flexibility supports the well‑being and development of our members.

04

06

Accountability & trust

YSP operates on a foundation of trust. Rather than tracking hours, we focus on outcomes, initiative, and collaboration. Team members are responsible for meeting agreed deliverables and communicating proactively if challenges arise.

07

Inclusivity & accessibility

We strive to create a remote environment that is inclusive and accessible to all members, regardless of geography, background, or resources. Where possible, we select tools that are free, low‑bandwidth friendly, and accessible across regions.

08

Policy updates

As YSP grows, this policy may be updated to reflect new operational needs, technological changes, and feedback from team members.
